TAMPA, Fla — The University of South Florida has received a $1.5 million investment from cybersecurity company ReliaQuest, aimed at expanding student opportunities in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The funding will support programs within USF’s Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing.

According to university officials, $1 million of the gift will establish the ReliaQuest AI and Cybersecurity Professorship, the college’s first endowed faculty position. The remaining $500,000 will enhance the ReliaQuest Labs program, which provides students with hands-on experience in cybersecurity and related fields.

University President Moez Limayem said the investment will strengthen USF’s ability to attract top faculty and prepare students for evolving industry demands.

ReliaQuest founder and CEO Brian Murphy emphasized the growing complexity of cybersecurity challenges, noting the role artificial intelligence plays in shaping the field.

The funding will also introduce a new software engineering track within ReliaQuest Labs, focusing on emerging areas such as prompt engineering.

Since its launch in 2018, the Labs program has graduated more than 300 students, many of whom have gone on to careers in cybersecurity.
