Fort Lee garrison directors and staff attended a strategic offsite workshop focused on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to improve operations.
The workshop aimed to identify practical ways AI could help Fort Lee operate efficiently and effectively, despite constrained resources.
The event was part of an initiative to encourage experimentation and challenge traditional processes to achieve greater efficiencies.
Dr. Thomas Easterly led discussions about the opportunities and challenges of generative AI, emphasizing its potential to expedite mission-critical tasks while maintaining human oversight.
The workshop involved identifying potential AI pilot projects tailored to various directorates and assessing organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Leadership stressed the importance of integrating AI as a tool to enhance, not replace, critical thinking and accountability.
The workshop culminated in each directorate developing a draft 24-month AI action plan and identifying next steps for execution.
