Glass, Sourcewell Launch AI Procurement Marketplace Pilot

Glass and Sourcewell have initiated a pilot project to sell AI tools through a cooperative purchasing marketplace called the G-Commerce AI Solutions Marketplace.
The marketplace aims to assist in discovering, evaluating, and purchasing AI solutions through competitive contracts that intend to “reduce traditional barriers” in procurement for public agencies.
Users can seek, compare, and request quotes for AI tools in a single, centralized environment, benefiting from price advantages that come with cooperative contracts.
The contracts covered by this marketplace span various IT areas including enterprise, workforce, data and analytics, cybersecurity, compliance, blockchain, and cloud infrastructure.
Initial participants in the pilot are mostly local agencies, public universities, and school districts. The pilot involves about 50 suppliers and is set to last a couple of months.
Success will be determined in part by how many agencies purchase AI tools directly from the new marketplace, aiming to reinforce this practice for future AI-centered procurement efforts.
The initiative underscores a broad effort with government technology to modernize how the public sector accesses technology and to create a more intuitive and efficient pathway for agencies to engage with AI solutions.
