Huntington Ingalls Joins Applied Intuition To Advance Artificial Intelligence For Warships – Huntington I

Company Partnership: Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Applied Intuition, a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) defined operating systems, to advance the Warship OS AI-driven operating system.
Objective of Partnership: The collaboration aims to enhance ship performance, expedite the integration of data and AI across ship systems, and enable scalable autonomy for both unmanned and crewed vessels.
Product Integration: Applied Intuition’s Warship OS will be integrated into HII’s ROMULUS family of unmanned surface vessels which are under construction.
Future Scope: The partnership will also explore the deployment of Warship OS to future crewed naval platforms, focusing on design, engineering, interoperability, and rapid capability insertion based on evolving U.S. Navy requirements.
Modernization of Operations: This initiative complements HII’s broader efforts to modernize its production, which includes expanding the use of advanced AI technologies and robotics across its shipbuilding operations.
AI Technologies and Robotics: HII’s moves to incorporate AI extend beyond this partnership, notably through an MOU with GrayMatter Robotics to explore the use of physical AI in improving efficiency and throughput in shipbuilding.
