All the updates released since the launch of Parrot 7 have now been consolidated into this release. While Parrot 7.0 was already stable and fully usable, with version 7.1 they have improved several issues reported by users.

MCPwn
One of the latest announcements concerned a tool called MCPwn (or mcpwn).
mcpwn is a server based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), designed to allow Large Language Models (LLMs), such as Claude, Gemini, or even local LLMs, to run cybersecurity tools (including nmap, sqlmap, gobuster, and more) directly on the user’s local machine.
The tool stands out for its security‑oriented architecture, which isolates command execution inside protected Docker containers to prevent unauthorized access to the host system, as well as for the flexibility provided by dynamic tool registration through a simple yaml configuration file.
Being cross‑platform and easy to integrate, mcpwn acts as an operational bridge that turns AI into an active assistant capable of performing network discovery and vulnerability scanning in a safe and controlled manner.
It is already available for testing, and it will soon be accessible in the repositories via apt.
Mirror Director
To improve the management of our repositories, ParrotSec have decided to take back control of the Mirror Director, a lightweight HTTP redirector written in Go that powers ParrotOS’s package delivery infrastructure.
When a client (typically apt) requests a package, the service determines the client’s geographical location, checks the requested file against an in‑memory index synced from the master repository, and returns an HTTP 307 redirect to the most appropriate mirror.
Mirror selection follows a hierarchical fallback chain: from country‑level mirrors, to continental defaults, to global defaults, and finally to the master server.
Rocket
Rocket has also undergone significant changes, reaching version 1.5.0 and features a new UI along with a few new tools.

Upgrade from Parrot 6 Lorykeet
ParrotSec always recommends installing Parrot 7.1 using the new ISO. However, for any existing installation, the updates will automatically migrate your system to Parrot 7.1.
Previous installations of Parrot 6.4 will keep the MATE desktop environment once migrated to Parrot 7.1.
