AI, crypto and Trump super PACs stash millions to spend on the midterms

Political groups tied to cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence have amassed large campaign funds, with nearly $194 million for pro-crypto groups and $39 million for a pro-AI group, ending 2025 in substantial reserves.
The pro-crypto groups, primarily Fairshake backed by Coinbase and venture capitalists, spent $290 million in 2024 backing bipartisan candidates.
Leading the Future, the pro-AI group, raised $50 million from late August to December, with notable donations from AI pioneers and venture capitalists.
Significant funds remain in other super PACs: MAGA Inc., tied to Trump, held $304 million, while Republican-aligned Senate Leadership Fund and Congressional Leadership Fund raised nearly $180 million combined in the second half of 2025.
Elon Musk continued to support Republican groups with $12.9 million in donations, despite previous ties to Trump crumbling.
House Majority PAC, aiding Democrats in the House, gathered over $48 million by year’s end, while United Democracy Project, a pro-Israel group, raised $61 million in the final six months.
United Democracy Project, although mostly involved in Democratic primaries, faced controversy for its funding from GOP donors like Paul Singer.
Leaders We Deserve, supporting young Democratic candidates, raised over $7.8 million in 2025 targeting established Democrats in safe districts.
