Malaysia launches consultation on AI governance bill | MLex

Malaysia’s Ministry of Digital has initiated stakeholder engagement for the first cross-sector Artificial Intelligence Governance Bill.
The draft framework uses a risk-based approach to assign governance responsibilities and includes safeguards, incident reporting, and regulatory sandboxes.
The proposed bill will regulate AI systems but will not address AI-generated content, which remains governed by existing laws and frameworks.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo underscored the importance of preparing for this regulatory change.
