AI boom boosts economic confidence: Poll

Confidence in Taiwan’s local economy has improved as the country’s export-oriented economy benefits from the global artificial intelligence (AI) boom, according to a survey by Cathay Financial Holding.
The current-month economic optimism index rose significantly, from 12 last month to 32 this month, reflecting improved sentiments.
The six-month economic outlook index also improved, increasing from 7.4 last month to 25.5 this month.
Respondents’ optimism led to higher willingness to spend, more willingness to buy big-ticket items, and better wage expectations.
A prediction of economic growth and an expectation for higher consumer price index (CPI) rates also indicate positive trends; however, respondents are generally more cautious compared to official government estimates.
