France to invest €655 mln in AI, set up common chatbot for all state services

The French government plans to invest €655 million ($758.29 million) in artificial intelligence initiatives.
A common chatbot will be developed for all state services.
A public health chatbot will be established for the state-owned health insurance agency Ameli.
A new platform will be created to facilitate easier access to public data.
Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu emphasized the importance of leading rather than being subjected to the artificial intelligence revolution.
He questioned the speed at which the state will adapt AI and stressed the necessity for France to have its own AI tools rather than relying on foreign entities.
The announcement was made during the commencement of the “Viva Tech” conference in Paris.
The currency conversion rate was mentioned as $1 = 0.8638 euros.
