Fincantieri concluded its first Maritime Security Hackathon, with Lares Technologies winning top honors for coordinating manned and unmanned maritime assets.
The event brought together around 70 participants including startups, developers, defense experts, and Italian Navy officers to protect maritime infrastructure.
The winning project from Lares Technologies emphasized integrated management of autonomous vehicles for underwater, surface, and aerial coordination.
A special mention went to EchoLock for an advanced acoustic detection solution for complex underwater environments.
During the hackathon, five teams developed and demonstrated prototypes using live hardware, focusing on maritime defense scenarios.
The event underscores Fincantieri’s strategy to promote innovation through collaboration between industry, government, and startups.
Winning projects will proceed to an acceleration and technology validation program at the AgorAI hub in Trieste to develop operational capabilities.
