Comcast Business has announced SecurityEdge Preferred, a network-native cybersecurity solution aimed at small businesses nationwide. Comcast Business described the offering as enterprise-grade, AI-powered threat detection built directly into its network infrastructure.
SecurityEdge Preferred monitors both incoming and outgoing traffic in real time, blocking malware, ransomware, phishing attempts, and botnets before they reach connected devices. It includes AI-powered threat intelligence, which identifies and adapts to emerging attack patterns.
The offering also uses advanced filtering to block malicious IP addresses and restrict traffic from high-risk geographic regions, while application-level controls prevent unauthorized software from accessing the network. Comcast said small business owners will have real-time visibility into activity and cybersecurity threats through a live dashboard.
Comcast Business positioned the launch around a growing threat environment for small businesses. The Comcast 2025 Cybersecurity Threat Report — drawn from 34.6 billion security events across its network — found the threat environment facing small businesses at its most active and costly on record.
According to Cisco, 43% of all cyberattacks now target small businesses. Moreover, the Identity Theft Resource Center’s 2024 Consumer and Business Impact Report found that financial losses from breaches have doubled in two years, with damages increasingly topping $500,000.
Comcast said that, in May 2026, SecurityEdge Preferred blocked an average of more than 230 cybersecurity threats per second targeting small businesses.
“Security shouldn’t require an IT department to work,” said Comcast Business Senior Vice President of Connectivity and Digital Customer Solutions Christian Nascimento. “SecurityEdge Preferred is part of our broader commitment to simplifying how small businesses access and manage critical technology, bringing connectivity and cybersecurity together in an integrated experience they can depend on.”
SecurityEdge Preferred is priced at $40 per month for Comcast Business Internet customers with speeds below 1 Gbps, and $60 per month for customers with speeds 1 Gbps or above. It requires no additional hardware beyond a Comcast Business Internet router.
The product’s nationwide launch follows a limited beta that began in November 2025.
The announcement follows two other new services announced by Comcast Business in March: Total Solutions Advantage, which combines high-speed connectivity and built-in cybersecurity, and Buy More Save More, which offers savings when adding complementary services.
