Governor Moore Announces Senior AI Advisor for State of Maryland

Governor Wes Moore of Maryland appoints Michael Boyce as the new Senior Advisor for Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the state.
Boyce will advise Governor Moore, the Department of Information Technology, and the AI Subcabinet and work with various sectors.
He brings over a decade of experience, including leading AI initiatives at the Department of Homeland Security and implementing AI projects at U.S. Digital Response.
Boyer’s role focuses on advancing AI to drive economic development, empower the workforce, and enhance state services via public-private partnerships and AI integration.
The Moore-Miller administration is prioritizing the responsible use of AI, enhancing state services and productivity, and has established frameworks for ethical AI deployment since 2024.
Boyce will build on the foundation laid by his predecessor while fostering partnerships and protecting privacy.
The new AI Innovation Lab aims to upscale AI testing and implementation across state agencies, offering a secure environment and ready-to-use packages for rapid prototyping.
