• Rapid Economic and Technological Changes: The world faces rapid economic competition, accelerated technological change, and a global race to secure talent, infrastructure, and innovation, with artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront.

• Canada’s AI Strategy: AI for All: Canada launched a new national AI strategy, “AI for All,” to ensure the responsible adoption of AI across the nation by modernising legal frameworks and developing partnerships.

• Goals for 2034 – Economic Growth and Job Creation: The AI for All strategy aims to achieve $200 billion in economic growth, create 250,000 new AI-related jobs, and increase AI adoption from 12% to 60% by 2034.

• National AI Literacy and Education Initiatives: To build opportunity, the strategy includes the National AI Literacy Initiative, providing entry-level AI training to all Canadians, including 1 million post-secondary students and 3,000 educators.

• Sovereign Technology Development: To reinforce Canadian sovereignty, the strategy focuses on building sovereign AI capabilities, including compute, cloud infrastructure, and talent, using investments in research, procurement, and high-performance computing.

• Protecting Canadians and Enhancing Transparency: Trust-building measures include modernizing laws to protect personal information, enhancing AI transparency, and improving capabilities of the Canadian AI Safety Institute.

• International Collaboration and Partnerships: Canada will leverage 12 existing international AI partnerships and a new Sovereign Technology Alliance to attract foreign investment and showcase Canadian talent.

• Supporting Workers and SMEs: The strategy offers training for workers across all sectors and helps small and medium-sized businesses adopt AI to boost productivity and innovation.
