Trump Signs Executive Order Granting Oversight of A.I. Models

President Trump signed an executive order requesting technology companies to submit new artificial intelligence (A.I.) models to the government for review before public release.
The order marks a shift from the administration’s previously hands-off approach toward A.I., which prioritized technological advancement without strict oversight.
The previous executive order that mandated a 14-to-90 day review window was scrapped just before it was to be signed.
This new order sets a shorter 30-day review period for new A.I. models and directs the Treasury Secretary to establish an A.I. cybersecurity clearinghouse for reviewing discovered security vulnerabilities.
The administration highlighted that while advanced A.I. can enhance national security, it also introduces new national security considerations necessitating coordinated executive action.
