Resona sets up team to address artificial intelligence security risks

Resona Holdings has formed an internal team focused on addressing vulnerabilities detected by advanced AI models, particularly those adept at identifying system weaknesses.
Group CEO and President Masahiro Minami views the emergence of high-performance AI as both an opportunity and a risk, pledging to strengthen security systems promptly.
The team includes members from information technology security and group strategy departments, focusing on measures inspired by U.S. startup Anthropic’s Claude Mythos AI model.
Minami noted that approximately 30,000 Resona employees are using generative AI for their work, and he aims for the company to lead in AI adoption in Japan.
The company plans to enhance its data infrastructure and develop AI experts to maintain its competitive edge.
Resona Holdings intends to increase its corporate loans balance by ¥4.2 trillion over the next three years, amid a backdrop of rising interest rates.
Minami emphasized the group’s commitment to supporting Japan’s growth and regional revitalization, with a focus on small and midsize companies.
