Character.AI defended itself by stating that its user-created Characters are fictional, meant for entertainment, and not to be trusted for professional advice, with clear disclaimers provided in chats.
This case is not the first legal issue for Character.AI; the company previously settled lawsuits involving claims that its chatbots contributed to suicides and mental health crises among children.
