Army convenes industry leaders for AI tabletop exercise focused on cyber defense

The Army hosted the second iteration of its Artificial Intelligence Tabletop Exercise (AI TTX 2.0) on April 27, 2026, to accelerate the development and deployment of AI for cyber defense.
The event involved senior cybersecurity executives from leading technology companies such as Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, and others alongside Army and Department of War leadership.
The exercise focused on hypothetical scenarios where AI-driven cyberattacks are deployed against Army networks, aiming to identify existing AI capabilities that can give cyber defenders an advantage.
The participants discussed strategies to develop agentic AI tools for enhancing cyber defense and addressing vulnerabilities in the military’s digital infrastructure.
The discussion highlighted the importance of the speed and scale of AI capabilities in outstripping adversaries and improving human-machine integration in warfighting functions.
AI TTX 2.0 builds on the first AI TTX from September 2025 which initiated Project ARIA to deliver AI capabilities, automate processes and improve the supply chain using AI.
The Army intends to leverage rapid prototyping and the FUZE initiative to pilot AI solutions within 30 to 90 days to quickly integrate them into operational units.
The exercise addressed policy gaps that may impede the wide adoption of AI and emphasized the importance of mastering AI integration for future warfare success.
