UAPB launches AI and Data Center

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has established the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (CAIDA) to integrate AI and data analytics across academic, research, and institutional operations to enhance economic opportunities in the Arkansas-Mississippi Delta.
The center aims to strengthen UAPB’s ability to produce career-ready graduates, expand workforce pathways, and provide data-informed solutions to underserved communities.
CAIDA seeks to improve student success, boost institutional performance, and enhance research competitiveness by equipping students and faculty with AI and data analytics skills.
The initiative is expected to position UAPB for national artificial intelligence training recognition, with potential participation in a significant AI training program supported by the Walton Family Foundation.
Key objectives of CAIDA include developing a university-wide AI governance model, expanding AI literacy training, enhancing teaching and learning, improving student recruitment and enrollment strategies, increasing donor and alumni engagement, and modernizing data infrastructure.
Funding for CAIDA’s activities is provided by the U. S. Department of Education, including support through the Strengthening Historically Black Colleges & Universities Program.
