Delaware Is Latest State to Offer Employees AI Training

Delaware is introducing a training curriculum for its employees on the responsible and ethical use of AI in government, following other states like New Jersey, Indianapolis, and Washington, D.C.
The training program called “Responsible AI for Public Professionals” was developed with the help of InnovateUS, a collaborative nonprofit initiative led by Northeastern University’s Burnes Center for Social Change and The Governance Lab.
New Jersey began deploying this curriculum in July 2024, and since then, it has been adopted by various governments to equip their workers with necessary AI skills.
The Delaware Department of Human Resources worked across multiple departments to integrate this training into the online Delaware Learning Center, which will now be available to executive branch employees.
The initiative emphasizes collaboration and follows the directives of the newly established Delaware AI Commission, which focuses on guiding AI adoption and recommending actions related to AI.
Various states, including California, Georgia, Maryland, and New York, as well as cities like San Francisco and San Jose, are also joining this effort to enhance AI literacy among their workforce.
The federal government has provided guidance to states in their pursuit to develop AI literacy skills among their employees.
