University of Northern Iowa adds two new artificial intelligence majors

The University of Northern Iowa is introducing two new bachelor’s degree programs in Artificial Intelligence as part of its Wilson College of Business and the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences.
One program, in the College of Business, will focus on the practical, strategic use of AI within organizations, teaching students how AI tools, including machine learning and predictive analytics, support business operations and problem-solving.
This business-focused AI major will also incorporate ethics and governance in AI use.
Graduates from this program will be prepared for roles in finance, insurance, manufacturing, and more, including positions such as business intelligence analysts, AI architects, and data scientists.
The College of Business is also launching a certificate in applied AI focusing on practical applications of AI in business settings.
The other new major, in the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences, will delve into the theoretical aspects of artificial intelligence, including machine learning and deep learning mathematics.
This math-focused AI major will cover calculus, linear algebra, statistics, computer programming, and more in addition to advanced AI topics.
This program prepares students for graduate study in mathematics, data science, and related fields and aims to produce adaptable graduates desirable in the job market.
