Hyundai to build $6.3 billion AI, robotics, hydrogen hub in South Korea

Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest 9 trillion won ($6.3 billion) to build key facilities for advanced technologies in South Korea.
The initiative includes an AI data center housing up to 50,000 graphics processing units for autonomous driving and robotics.
A robot manufacturing complex with an annual capacity of 30,000 units will be constructed using industry-scale automation.
Hyundai aims to create a “green hydrogen ecosystem” with investments in renewable energy projects and hydrogen production.
The project seeks to transform the Saemangeum area into an integrated “AI Hydrogen City.”
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung supports the investment, envisioning it as a cornerstone for the nation’s advanced manufacturing and AI competitiveness.
Hyundai expects the project to have a wide economic impact, generating 16 trillion won and creating around 71,000 jobs.
This initiative exemplifies a major effort by a traditional conglomerate to merge robotics, AI, and clean energy into a unified industrial framework.
