Only 20% of Irish enterprises reported using AI in 2025, showing a modest increase from 15% the previous year.
Data mining was the most prevalent use of AI, followed closely by natural language generation, with workflow automation and decision-making assistance being less common.
AI adoption was significantly higher in large enterprises (58%) compared to small companies (17%).
Contrary to expectations, small businesses didn’t lead in adopting AI, despite potential resource constraints.
A PwC survey supports the CSO findings, indicating low daily use of generative AI (10% in Ireland and 14% globally) and low usage of AI agents (3% in Ireland and 6% globally).
Overall AI usage suggests that despite increasing adoption, significant hurdles remain in widespread implementation.
