KAHULUI, Hawaiʻi (Island News) — The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College will host a free online cybersecurity clinic to help Hawaiʻi’s sole proprietors and small business owners protect themselves against increasing cyber threats.The session, titled Security Using Generative AI, will take place Wednesday, Feb. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom. It is the second of three clinics offered through UH Cybersecurity Clinics program.The clinic will focus on practical ways artificial intelligence can strengthen cybersecurity. Participants will learn how AI can help detect unusual activity, respond more quickly to cyber incidents and reduce risks to business data, while also addressing privacy and ethical concerns.The event will be moderated by Debasis Bhattacharya, professor and program coordinator of the UH Maui College Applied Business and Information Technology Program.Presenters include Jodi Ito, UH’s chief information security officer, and David Stevens, assistant professor at Kapiʻolani Community College.Topics will include basic prompt writing for small businesses, managing data privacy concerns, avoiding shadow AI and using AI to automate threat detection and speed up incident response.The clinics are supported by a $1 million grant and additional funding from Google’s Cybersecurity Clinics Fund.Click here to register.
