Fact Check: Posts claim this image shows Alex Pretti helping 2 disabled veterans. Here’s the truth

The circulated image purportedly showing Alex Pretti, a deceased nurse who was fatally shot by federal agents, assisting two disabled veterans during a physical therapy session, has been rated as fake.
Multiple online sources including Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Threads, and X shared this image, raising concerns about its authenticity.
Upon investigation, the image lacks credible evidence to support its veracity and displayed several signs indicative of being generated using AI.
Google Gemini’s SynthID Detector found a digital watermark confirming the use of Google AI tools in part of the image’s creation.
Reliable sources could not verify any instances where Pretti helped veterans with physical therapy as depicted in the image.
Despite the lack of authenticity in the image, a different video from December 2024 showing Pretti paying a final salute to a veteran was authenticated by multiple reputable outlets as genuine.
Additional signs of AI in the image include inaccuracies like 11 red and white stripes on the U.S. flag (vs. the actual 13 stripes) and a prosthetic discrepancy in one of the veterans.
