UW-Stout: Students from three Universities of Wisconsin campuses use machine learning to solve problems for Royal Credit Union

Four computer science students from UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, and UW-River Falls participated in a unique internship at Royal Credit Union’s AI Innovation Lab, aiming to implement machine learning.
The internship was a pilot program that allowed the students to bring their real-world machine learning experience to the credit union and focus on real use cases.
The students analyzed Royal’s extensive databases to create models which helped lay the foundation for the credit union to predict members’ future behavior.
The internship also helped the interns develop their technical, communication, and workforce skills in a professional environment.
Royal Credit Union’s Vice President of IT Innovation and Efficiency praised the students’ exceptional acumen and fresh perspectives, making it a mutually beneficial experience.
