Rep. Blake Moore proposes turning artificial intelligence tools loose on bloated U.S. Code

U.S. Rep Blake Moore (R-UT) has introduced the Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Streamline the Code of Federal Regulations Act of 2026 to eliminate unnecessary rules in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
The legislation aims to employ artificial intelligence to identify and eliminate duplicative and outdated regulations, inspired by Ohio State’s successful use of similar AI tools.
The proposed legislation calls for the Office of Management and Budget to create an annual process to detect redundant or outdated regulations using AI.
AI tools will recommend regulations for removal to the relevant federal agencies for final decisions, not making automatic cuts.
The bill is intended to reduce regulatory burden, save taxpayer money, and enhance government efficiency, based on estimated savings and time reductions in Ohio’s state code.
