Director of Data and AI at Microsoft, Mr. Cecil Sunder, met with the Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka for Southern India, Mr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, at the Deputy High Commission on January 13, 2026.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Sri Lanka and Microsoft, particularly in data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Both parties discussed potential collaborations in education, skills development, and technology-based solutions to support Sri Lanka’s national development goals.
Special attention was given to revising AI-related curricula and introducing structured AI skills programmes to enhance digital capacity and employability.
Mr. Sunder expressed his intention to visit Sri Lanka soon to further explore collaborative efforts.
The Deputy High Commission also thanked Mr. Sunder for his financial contribution to the Sri Lanka Flood Relief Fund, which is deeply appreciated during this critical time.
