UAE joins US-led coalition for artificial intelligence

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has joined Pax Silica, a US-led coalition focused on securing cross-border infrastructure and supply chains crucial for the artificial intelligence (AI) era.
The UAE became the ninth country to sign the Pax Silica Declaration, following Qatar.
The coalition aims to protect procurement of critical materials like silicon and minerals used in semiconductors and AI from undue dependencies and risks.
Countries that have signed Pax Silica include Australia, Israel, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the UAE, with India, expected to join in February.
The US State Department emphasized the UAE’s leadership in energy, investment, and technology innovation, highlighting its significant role in driving a secure AI ecosystem.
The coalition is intended to foster global technology partnerships focusing on secure technology procurement and development, including areas like data centers and 6G.
Emirati ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, underlined that initiatives like Pax Silica support the UAE’s commitment to AI that is developed responsibly and securely.
UAE-based tech funds like Mubadala and G42, along with investors like ADQ and MGX, are actively collaborating with US tech companies to advance the global technology race.
