The Department of War launched “Agent Network,” the second Pace-Setting Project (PSP 2) under its new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Acceleration Strategy, aimed at compressing the time it takes to convert intelligence into informed options for commanders.
-
Led by the Chief Digital and AI Office in partnership with various U.S. commands, Agent Network employs advanced AI-enabled tools to transform battle management, decision support, and targeting processes.
-
The Agent Network introduces modern, AI-supported targeting methods that reduce the time required to identify critical developments and act on them, enabling faster transformation from traditional targeting methods.
-
Although Agent Network utilizes AI to continuously scan defense intelligence and operational systems and present clear options for commanders, it does not autonomously select or strike targets to ensure human judgment remains central to every decision.
-
The initiative combines the strengths of established AI companies and innovative new entrants, building on foundational Command and Control innovations to provide faster access to better information.
-
Agent Network will undergo rigorous testing, evaluation, and oversight to ensure it strengthens mission performance while prioritizing precision, accountability, and reduced collateral risk.
-
It serves as a prime example of the Department’s accelerated approach to delivering AI capabilities to reinforce battlefield execution through its seven key PSPs.
