AI targeting systems are coming, but not as fast as many assume

Ukraine’s AI Integration: The Ukraine-Russia war saw both sides incorporate AI in targeting efforts; notably, Ukraine used AI-enhanced drones successfully, enhancing their strike accuracy.
Limited and Complex Adoption: While military AI is being actively employed by a select few countries, its proliferation will likely be slow due to the complexity and cost of integrating advanced technologies like surveillance, AI data processing, and strike capacity.
Israel’s AI Infrastructure: Israel’s extensive use of AI in targeting shows extensive infrastructure, data collection, and cloud computing investments required for effective AI integration, underscoring the difficulty and significant investment needed.
