Rumors circulated in early June 2026 about the U.S. Congress integrating the U.S. and Israeli militaries in an upcoming budget bill, sparking concerns about U.S. sovereignty.
The claim originated from Responsible Statecraft, which proposed that Section 224 of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) would merge the two countries’ armed forces.
Section 224 does not intend a complete military merger but proposes appointing an executive agent to coordinate defense technology cooperation, joint training, and information sharing between the U.S. and Israel.
