Elder Gong teaches how to hear God’s voice amid increased use of artificial intelligence – Church News

Elder Gerrit W. Gong, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, represents The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at discussions regarding the morality of artificial intelligence (AI).
On June 7, the Church released a video series titled “Faith, Dignity, and Human Flourishing: Hearing God’s Voice in an Age of Artificial Intelligence” featuring Elder Gong discussing best practices for maintaining spiritual sensitivity with the advancing use of AI.
The video series is designed to help individuals understand their core relationships with God, self, society, and the environment in the context of AI.
Elder Gong provides three gospel-centered guideposts for personal use of AI: rely on the Spirit, practice wisdom with counsel from doctrine and experience, and choose trusted sources grounded in scripture and prophecy.
The series also explores the potential benefits and risks of AI, focusing on the need for ethical guidelines to ensure AI serves to enhance human dignity and purpose rather than replace them.
Elder Gong invites viewers to set guidelines for AI usage, write down and regularly revisit personal truths about their identity in Jesus Christ, connect with others through meaningful interactions, and spend time in nature to maintain balance and perspective.
The video series will be available in Spanish, Portuguese, and French and can be found on Elder Gong’s YouTube channel.
