Gov. Phil Scott establishes Vermont AI Economic Task Force

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott established a Vermont Artificial Intelligence Economic Task Force to strategize on the responsible and effective use of AI for the state’s future economic growth, especially in rural areas.
Led by Vermont Gas CEO Neale Lunderville, the task force aims to identify AI opportunities and address areas of concern that affect Vermont businesses and the skill sets they require.
Vermont residents can join the task force or its three working groups to contribute to these efforts, and the group is scheduled to deliver its first recommendations within 90 days.
The recommendations will focus on pinpointing up to five areas where AI can enhance processes for state employees and creating an education program for state agency leaders on the practical application of AI.
This new task force complements the Council on Artificial Intelligence created in 2022, which oversees AI use within the state government.
