Report: Coordinated resilience infrastructure is needed in age of AI

A new report from the Elon University Imagining the Digital Future Center stresses the need for highly coordinated resilience infrastructure in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
82% of survey respondents believe AI will significantly influence people’s lives and societal functions in the next decade or less.
The report outlines risks from widespread AI adoption, such as the gradual weakening of human judgment, accountability, shared truth, and the social fabric of self-government.
Only 13% of respondents think significant level changes due to AI will occur in 20 to 30 years; over 50% expect AI to significantly influence nearly all or most human activities and decisions sooner.
The report highlights concerns about loss of human agency, epistemic fragmentation, the need for existential literacy, economic and identity upheaval, new divisions and inequities, and social interactions influenced by AI.
