LISD’s plan for Artificial Intelligence – The Hawk Eye

LISD aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its schools to prepare a competitive student body for future jobs requiring AI skill.
The focus for the 2025-2026 school year is teacher training for using AI in lesson plans and AI literacy among students through various initiatives.
A teacher training workshop on February 16 introduced the use of AI in coursework, including AI image generation and chatbot functionality.
LISD has developed a “walled garden” relationship with the AI company Gemini to safeguard confidential school data and enhanced the Learning Management System (LMS) Canvas integration.
While acknowledging the benefits of AI, such as aiding students’ understanding and processing sensitive data swiftly, there are concerns about its potential misuse for cheating.
The AI adoption parallels the initial phase of integrating iPads in education, reflecting the transformative impact of new technology in classrooms.
