Mississippi AI Innovation Hub’s New Chatbot Targets Procurement

Mississippi’s AI Innovation Hub has developed Procurii, a chatbot to assist procurement staff in quickly locating and interpreting relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
Procurii was created to complement existing procurement processes by providing detailed information and references directly from official Department of Information Technology Services materials.
The chatbot was developed by a team from Mississippi State University within the AI Innovation Hub’s AWS sandbox, using a tailored retrieval-based architecture.
Initially designed for procurement professionals, Procurii plans to be published as an open-source tool to support other compliance-driven government applications.
The project is aligned with Mississippi’s modernization goals, which include accelerating AI solutions, advancing cloud computing, and modernizing procurement processes.
Procurii exemplifies responsible AI integration within governmental operations, demonstrating how innovation and governance can coexist.
The AI Innovation Hub, created in early 2025, aims to foster collaboration between agencies, universities, and private partners, and to build proof-of-concept applications addressing governmental challenges.
The success of Procurii marks the beginning of a series of AI solutions intended to improve public services, foster innovation, and enhance coordination across state government agencies.
