- The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has been awarded a $4 million, four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) proficiency among high school and college students.
- UTD will collaborate with Uplift Education, a local charter school network, to launch the UTD/Uplift Future Ready AI Collaborative. This K-16 initiative aims to build AI literacy for students in grades 10 through 12 and boost college and career readiness.
- The partnership seeks to create a model for using AI to enhance instruction, advising, and institutional processes across secondary and postsecondary systems, and to train high school teachers to support college and career readiness.
- The project aims to replicate successful outcomes and provide Uplift students with a strong pathway to attend UT Dallas, while also integrating AI into lessons in a responsible and ethical manner to prepare students for the workforce.
- The grant will also bolster UTD’s computing infrastructure and support efforts for student retention and efficient advising as student enrollment increases.
