Dr. Kelly Cohen is a distinguished professor and the Brian H. Rowe Endowed Chair in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, serving since 2007.
Additionally, Dr. Cohen has a secondary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and directs the AI Bio Lab in UC’s Digital Futures initiative.
He earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Dr. Cohen’s extensive academic career bridges aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
His research focuses include responsible and explainable AI, fuzzy logic, assured autonomy, multi-agent decision-making, collaborative robotics, and advanced aerospace control technologies.
He has received significant research funding from federal agencies such as NSF, NIH, USAF, DHS, DOT, and NASA, as well as industry partners for projects in UAVs, safety-critical AI, and AI-enabled biomedical applications.
Dr. Cohen has held leadership roles, including serving as President of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS) and previously holding an interim head position in UC’s aerospace engineering department.
