Mos Food unveils AI system for drive-thru orders

Mos Food Services has unveiled an artificial intelligence-based system to handle drive-thru orders at its Japanese hamburger chain restaurants.
The system uses conversational AI to improve store management efficiency amid a serious labor shortage.
The company plans to roll out this new AI system across multiple outlets beginning in fiscal 2026, starting in April.
During a media demonstration, Mos Food demonstrated the AI system taking orders, including making recommendations such as “We recommend a limited-time avocado burger.”
Moving forward, store employees will prepare food based on customer orders transmitted directly from the AI system.
The AI system was developed by an information technology service company based in Tokyo.
While mobile and touchscreen ordering systems are becoming common in the hamburger industry, the adoption of AI-based systems has been slow.
