We don&#8217;t yet know exactly what was or wasn&#8217;t compromised. We&#8217;ll continue to dig into it to find out exactly what happened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that while the city is focused on restoring its systems as quickly as possible, it will do so only in a manner that is safe and secure. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For now, however, the immediate concern is going through \u201cevery step\u201d to find out what happened, which Mayor Siemens said\u00a0is too early to know.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the first questions that people always ask is, \u2018Was this ransomware?\u2019 We&#8217;re not sure yet,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He added that at this point,\u00a0the city\u00a0has not yet\u00a0determined if employee, customer, utility, or tax information has been compromised.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We will share information as quickly as we possibly\u00a0can\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The mayor reiterated that while the city searches for information, its systems will remain locked down. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said the community will be informed once answers are available.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will share information as quickly as we possibly can,\u201d he said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this point in time, residents don&#8217;t need to do anything further until we know what it is, and we&#8217;ll communicate that as soon as we do know what we&#8217;re looking at.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s important for us to make sure that we find the information that we need and then that we communicate that as quickly as we possibly can.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said that while the situation is ongoing, it\u2019s\u00a0important\u00a0to note\u00a0that the incident was caught \u201cvery early.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Siemens added that, despite the incident, the city can still look after the community safely through its essential services, which remain unaffected.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re able to provide safe drinking water.
