SANS Institute and DeafCyberCon have announced a partnership aimed at expanding cybersecurity career access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing professionals \u2014 a population that, despite representing roughly 15% of American adults according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, holds a fraction of roles in the sector.<\/p>\n

As an initial step, SANS has provided seats in its SEC301: Introduction to Cyber Security course and GIAC Security Information Fundamentals (GSIF) certification to DeafCyberCon members. SEC301 covers core security concepts, network fundamentals, and risk management, while GSIF validates those skills with a credential recognized by hiring managers. Beyond the introductory course, members also gain access to SANS\u2019 broader catalog spanning cloud security, penetration testing, incident response, and governance, risk and compliance, as well as whitepapers, webcasts, cheat sheets, and open-source tools.<\/p>\n

DeafCyberCon, a nonprofit led by founder Angela Dingle, has established mentorship programs, workforce development initiatives, and employer connection networks for Deaf and Hard of Hearing women entering cybersecurity. The addition of SANS courses and GIAC credentialing to that infrastructure provides members a structured path into the field that employers recognize.<\/p>\n

The partnership also includes programming to connect DeafCyberCon members with employers and additional GIAC credentialing pathways as professionals advance in their careers.<\/p>\n
