June 24 (Asia Today) — Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have launched a cybersecurity working group under a trilateral forum involving South Korea, the United States and Japan to strengthen cooperation against increasingly complex cyberthreats.
\nThe automakers said Wednesday they held the group’s inaugural seminar at Hyundai Motor Group headquarters in southern Seoul.<\/p>\n

The working group was established under the Trilateral Executive Dialogue, a policy forum that brings together political and business leaders from South Korea, the United States and Japan.
\nThe forum explores opportunities to promote democracy and shared prosperity while discussing ways to expand cooperation in areas including economic development and national security.
\nThe cybersecurity group is the first topic-specific subgroup created under the dialogue.\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Cyberattacks have become more frequent and complex as the boundary between digital and physical infrastructure becomes increasingly blurred.
\nThe widespread adoption of artificial intelligence and internet-connected devices has also increased the risk that an attack against one company could spread to other businesses linked through global supply chains.
\nHyundai Motor and Kia formed the working group with companies from different countries and industries to support coordinated responses to global cyberthreats.<\/p>\n

Participating companies plan to regularly share information on emerging security trends, operational experience and industry best practices.
\nRepresentatives from participating companies and professors from leading South Korean universities attended the first seminar.
\nParticipants discussed recent cybersecurity developments and corporate response strategies, as well as security challenges arising in the artificial intelligence era.
\n“As global supply chains become more interconnected, cybersecurity responses that cross national borders are essential,” a Hyundai Motor Group official said.
