\nvision to protect its digital future by strengthening cybersecurity
\nand enhancing the readiness of institutions to address evolving cyber
\nthreats, Director of the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCC) Mohammad

Speaking at the Government Communication Forum on Tuesday, organised
\nby the Ministry of Government Communication, Samadi said the NCC,
\nestablished in 2021 under the Cybersecurity Law, is responsible for
\ndeveloping and regulating Jordan’s national cybersecurity system.
\nHe said the centres work focuses on legislation and regulation,
\ncapacity building and operational and intelligence functions. The NCC
\nhas launched several initiatives, including the “Safe Online”
\nplatform, the “Wa\u2019i” awareness platform and the “Cyber Story”
\npodcast, targeting students, government employees, critical
\ninfrastructure operators and the wider community.
\nAmong its key programmes are the “Cyber Warriors” competition for
\nschool and university students, cybersecurity training for government
\nliaison officers and awareness campaigns and workshops across
\nsectors.
\nSamadi said Jordan’s cybersecurity ecosystem is supported by a range
\nof laws, regulations, policies and strategies, most notably the
\nNational Cybersecurity Strategy 2025\u20132028 and the Jordanian National
\nCybersecurity Framework.
\nDuring the first quarter of 2026, cyber incidents in Jordan declined
\nby 16 per cent compared with the same period in 2025, while critical
\nincidents accounted for just 0.5 per cent of the total.
\nThe most common threats included ransomware, denial-of-service
\nattacks, phishing, social engineering and the exploitation of
\nsecurity vulnerabilities.
\nHe added that AI-powered cyberattacks rose globally by 89 per cent,
\nwhile 75 per cent of breaches resulted from compromised credentials
\nor digital identities.
\nAuthorities detected 27 websites impersonating national institutions
\nduring the first quarter of the year.
\nSamadi said that artificial intelligence and quantum computing are
\nreshaping the cybersecurity landscape, requiring enhanced national
\ncapabilities, training programmes and preparations for
\nquantum-resistant encryption technologies.
\nHe added that the NCC has developed a draft roadmap, in cooperation
\nwith national partners, to address future risks associated with
\nquantum computing.
\nHe added that cybersecurity incident response teams in critical
\nsectors and the licensing framework for cybersecurity service
\nproviders are key pillars of Jordan’s efforts to strengthen cyber
\nresilience and confidence in the digital economy.
\nThe Jordanian National Cybersecurity Framework was implemented in
\n2025 across 110 government institutions and critical infrastructure
\nentities, with implementation set to expand to 50 additional national
\nentities in 2026.
\nThe rollout included training programmes, risk assessment exercises,
\nawareness workshops and implementation roadmaps for participating
\ninstitutions.
\nSamadi said that, in certain cases, access to some government
\nwebsites from outside Jordan may be restricted as a precautionary
\nmeasure to protect digital services.
\nHe revealed that one of the most significant cyber incidents handled
\nby the centre involved an attack that disrupted the systems of a
\nhealthcare institution.
\nFor his part, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government
\nCommunication Zaid Nawaisah said the NCC plays a vital role in
\nprotecting Jordanian cyberspace, developing national expertise and
\nraising awareness of digital risks.
