An Alabama company has agreed to settled a case in which the Department of Justice accused it of not complying with cybersecurity requirements for military contracts. In a statement on June 18, the DOJ said Huntsville-based logistics and defense contractor LOGZONE Inc. risked “significant exploitation” of its system “or exfiltration of sensitive defense information,” and will pay the U.S. government approximately $507,000. According to the settlement agreement, in 2021, the Navy awarded LOGZONE a contract to provide logistical and inventory services for the Naval Oceanographic Command Property Management Program at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. It was followed by another agreement in 2022, to provide facilities support services for the same office, and the vendor received about $682,000 for those jobs. The Justice Department said the company was wrong to claim it complied with the contracts’ cybersecurity requirements. To prove its case, the government said that compared to the highest score of 110 that the firm ascribed to itself, a Defense Contract Management Agency, or DCMA, cybersecurity compliance assessment completed in February 2024 rated the vendor -170, with -203 being the lowest possible score.LOGZONE did not immediately respond to an email request for comment. A call to the number listed on the company website was met with an immediate “no comment” when AL.com reached out.U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr. for the Northern District of Alabama said the case should remind contractors to comply with cybersecurity provisions in federal government contracts.“The cybersecurity provisions of federal contracts are critical to protecting sensitive information that may be transmitted in carrying out the mission of the contracts,” said Navy Vice Adm. Stephen Tedford, DCMA director. “DCMA will continue to ensure that contractors are fulfilling these obligations.”Fraud Section Trial Attorney Graham D. Welch and Assistant U.S. Attorney Don Long of the Northern District of Alabama handled the matter.

Alabama firm agrees to pay $507,000 to settle federal cybersecurity case https://www.al.com/news/2026/06/alabama-firm-agrees-to-pay-507000-to-settle-federal-cybersecurity-case.html Publish Date: 2026-06-18…

https://www.al.com/resizer/v2/XV34IBJZEJBHFPZJLIZCDC23BU.jpg?auth=28e8fc0c3c5fab2439a701119de4bfe24050e8baac3ef459c1a4ab580922a06f&width=1280&smart=true&quality=90
[15
24
post-233768","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cybersecurity","tag-cybersecurity
