\tThat\u2019s what the cybersecurity AI firm Adaptive Security did, enlisting the Emmy-winning comedian to star in a 15-part training series for its customers exploring the various cyber threats emerging in the AI age, from voice cloning and impersonations to the ever-present threats like phishing and even physical safety. The series was filmed this spring in Los Angeles, with scripts co-written by staffers at O\u2019Brien\u2019s production company Team Coco and Adaptive Security (though not without some of O\u2019Brien\u2019s standard improvisation).<\/p>\n

\tNew York-based Adaptive, co-founded in 2024 by Brian Long and Andrew Jones, aims to train its business clientele on how to navigate cybersecurity threats proliferating online, including many that\u2019ve emerged during the generative AI wave. The company cites a Deloitte projection that fraud campaigns using AI will grow losses from $12.3 billion in 2023 to $40 billion in 2027.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cThere\u2019s really a before and after,\u201d\u00a0Jones, who is Adaptive Security\u2019s chief product officer, told Variety. \u201cThere\u2019s the before, which was pre-AI, and then there\u2019s the after, which is after AI \u2014 and after AI, these attacks have gotten much more sophisticated. There\u2019s a lot more of them, they\u2019re much harder to detect and remediate, so it\u2019s already a huge problem. And as the technology, the underlying models become more efficient and effective, it\u2019s only going to get scarier, and so that\u2019s why we think it\u2019s really important for businesses to have a strategy and a plan here to help keep themselves and their organization safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tAdaptive got into business with O\u2019Brien earlier this year, with some of the company\u2019s staff fans of the comedian\u2019s long-running \u201cClutch Cargo\u201d bits that replaced celebrities\u2019 mouths in still photos with writer Robert Smigel\u2019s, putting off-kilter jokes quite literally into their \u201cmouths.\u201d (Adaptive works with some entertainment companies, but it doesn\u2019t cater to celebrities themselves.)<\/p>\n

\tEach episode of the training series, available to Adaptive\u2019s enterprise customer base, begins with O\u2019Brien deploying a bit that\u2019s relevant to the episode\u2019s topic. \t\u201cI teamed up with Adaptive Security just to figure out what these kids are up to. Turns out it\u2019s pretty cool,\u201d O\u2019Brien said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\tThe company has raised more than $140 million through several investment rounds, with its crop of investors including Bain Capital Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and the investment funds of Nvidia and OpenAI. It relies on a mix of proprietary AI models and public models to power its products, which range from security training courses to phishing simulations.<\/p>\n
