He further argued that although government agencies such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Data Protection Commission, and the Office of the National Security Adviser have introduced regulatory measures, policy implementation is still too slow to match the speed of modern cyber attacks<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re talking about automated polymorphic attack and they change every second,\u201d he warned, noting that Nigeria\u2019s systems are struggling to keep up<\/p>\n

Aruwajoye also highlighted a growing skills gap in the cybersecurity sector, linking it partly to brain drain and insufficient investment in local talent development.<\/p>\n

He stressed that Nigeria must prioritize human capacity development, stronger institutions, and faster response frameworks rather than relying solely on policy formulation.<\/p>\n

Turning to solutions, he called for urgent investment in cybersecurity professionals and improved coordination between government and private sector operators, including mandatory breach reporting within 24 hours to strengthen national response systems.<\/p>\n
