Ransomware is a type of malicious software or malware that prevents users from accessing their computer files, systems or networks and demands they pay a ransom for their return. Gebers noted one change in the bill requires board approval to pay a ransom whereas previously a superintendent or treasurer could authorize the payment.Due to the sensitive nature of the material, Gebers noted cybersecurity plans are exempt from public records requests. While this is being required through the state, Gebers added it is an unfunded mandate where the district will not receive additional funds to meet requirements such as updates or trainings.

NACS Board updated on cybersecurity changes | News https://www.northwestsignal.net/news/article_b1328696-0c4d-4ba2-a1c2-ae8bba786552.html Publish Date: 2026-03-26 00:00:00 Source Domain:…

https://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/northwestsignal.net/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/b/13/b1328696-0c4d-4ba2-a1c2-ae8bba786552/69c4907ddfae4.social.jpg?crop=1210%2C605%2C76%2C313
[15
24,32
post-199264","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cybersecurity","tag-cybersecurity","tag-malware
