Oklahoma State University has named Marjorie McLagan as chief information security
\n officer, where she will provide strategic leadership for the university’s comprehensive
\n information security and cybersecurity programs.<\/p>\n

In her new role, McLagan will protect OSU’s digital assets, research data, student
\n information and technology infrastructure. All are critical to the university’s land-grant
\n mission of providing accessible education, conducting groundbreaking research and
\n serving communities across Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

“Cybersecurity is foundational to everything we do at OSU,” said Jason Ramsey, chief
\n operating officer. “As we advance research, serve students and support Extension programs
\n in all 77 counties, protecting our data and infrastructure isn’t just an IT priority;
\n it’s essential to fulfilling our land-grant mission. Marjorie brings exactly the strategic
\n expertise we need to safeguard our university community and the Oklahomans we serve.”<\/p>\n

McLagan brings extensive experience in information security leadership. She spent
\n 20 years with the United States Air Force, serving on active duty and later as a civilian
\n contractor in a variety of IT leadership, operations and planning roles before joining
\n Oregon State University in 2017. Most recently, she served as deputy chief information
\n security officer at Oregon State, where she led security operations and focused on
\n increasing the university’s cybersecurity maturity.<\/p>\n

“Marjorie has built an impressive track record of strengthening cybersecurity programs
\n in complex, mission-driven organizations,” said Charles McCann, Oklahoma State\u2019s interim
\n chief information officer. “Her experience in both military and higher education environments
\n gives her a unique perspective on protecting sensitive data while enabling the collaboration
\n and innovation that define university research and education.”<\/p>\n

At Oregon State, McLagan championed the Smart Access Program, a Zero Trust Architecture
\n approach to cybersecurity. This experience will inform her work at OSU as the university
\n continues to enhance its security posture.<\/p>\n

“I’m excited to join Oklahoma State University and contribute to protecting the systems
\n and data that support such important work,” McLagan said. “Universities are unique
\n environments. We need robust security to protect research and student information,
\n and we also need to enable the open collaboration and discovery that drive innovation.
\n I look forward to working with the OSU community to build a security program that
\n protects our mission while empowering faculty, staff and students to do their best
\n work.”<\/p>\n

McLagan earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Oregon State University and holds
\n master’s degrees in information technology management and human resources management
\n and services from Webster University.<\/p>\n
