The FBI Jan. 8 released an alert\u00a0on evolving threat tactics by\u00a0Kimsuky, a North Korean state-sponsored cyber threat group. As of last year, the group has targeted research organizations, academic institutions, and U.S. and foreign government entities by embedding malicious\u00a0QR\u00a0codes in spear-phishing campaigns, referred to as\u00a0\u201cquishing.\u201d\u00a0The technique forces victims to use a mobile device to view the QR code, which could be received as an image, email\u00a0attachment\u00a0or embedded graphic that evades URL inspection.
