Meta to Use Off-Site Business Data for Feed and AI Personalization

Meta announced plans to use information from other businesses to personalize users’ feeds and AI chatbot responses, extending its data use from targeted ads only.
The company emphasized it is not collecting any new data but is allowing users to decide how existing shared information is utilized for personalization.
Meta is enhancing its “Activity from other businesses” setting to provide users with better control over how this data influences their Meta experience.
If users permit the use of shared data for personalized content, they will see more relevant ads and content, such as camping-related Reels if they recently purchased a tent online.
The current “Your activity off Meta technologies” setting will be discontinued as part of these changes.
This new option will roll out in the U.S. and several other countries starting next month, aiming to offer a more tailored user experience through data sharing from third parties.
